And for good reason, this system absolutely flies, it’s performance is outstanding. This is why it is favoured by in excess of 70% of the members of Astronomical Societies Globally as their preferred telescope.

Be wary of “Home Brand” telescopes that may seem like good value.

Purchase the Original including all the original premium “Standard” upgrades. Also be wary of others offering a “Personal Warranty” as their gear may be “Grey Imported” in which case the “Manufacturers warranty” is “Void” !

The Saxon Dobsonian Telescope 203mm/1200mm (8″) has a Premium “paraboloidal” primary mirror to maximise optical performance and capability, and a four-arm, secondary- mirror bracket with fine supports (0.5mm thick), to reduce diffraction spikes and light loss. In addition, this models include a 2″ focuser with a 1.25″ adapter, allowing the use of either eyepiece size. This model also includes the new feature-tension control handle.

Let’s learn more… So, what is our Dobsonian Telescope and why do we have a Tension Control Handle? – A simple, elegant form of an alt-azimuth mount was made to carry a Newtonian reflector – and popularised by John Dobson in San Francisco in the 1970’s. The Dobsonian mounted telescope is the world’s most popular among amateur astronomers and telescope makers because of its no-frills, ease-of-use. In its simplest form, the Dobsonian mount consists of a box which allows the optical tube assembly to pivot in altitude, while the box itself is swivels on a base in azimuth.

What makes it work? The Dobsonian mount moves on twin side bearings on the telescope optical tube and the upright sides of the box mount base. This makes stabilising the telescope a breeze. It is the easiest to use mount in the world, thereby it’s popularity.

The Saxon Tension Control Handle invention (US Patent No. 6,940,642) provides super easy tension adjustment by the simple turn of the handle. It’s that easy ! Thereby the telescope does not need to be balanced in order to stay in position.

Saxon Dob 8 – 200mm Reflector Telescope System Features…

What can you see with the Saxon Dob 8 – 200mm Reflecting Telescope System? This is a pure astronomy telescope and you’ll be amazed at the deep sky views it provides. Rich star clusters explode like fireworks in the eyepiece and dense star clusters begin to resolve with pin sharp stars. Extended nebula spread across the field of view, showing details like wisps of smoke set against starry skies. Don’t forget the galaxies! Larger, bright galaxies will show details like brilliant core regions. Even though the Saxon Dob 8 excels at deep space objects, it is also a fine performer on Solar System objects, too. You’ll be impressed with the deep craters and tall mountains you’ll see on the Moon. Jupiter will reveal its equatorial zones and you’ll see planetary details like the “Great Red Spot” and variations in the cloud tops… and the four Galilean moons will enchant you with their orbits. Saturn will unveil its ring system and you’ll spy Titan and other small moons, too. Mars, when it is close, will have brilliant white polar caps edge by a blue atmospheric haze and will delight you with dark markings like Syrtis Major. Don’t forget the phases of Venus, or the pale coloured orbs of Neptune and Uranus!
