Exceptional Antique Solid Brass telescope C19th Century
This telescope has been passed to myself to on sell for a family that has had it in their family since their grandfather bought it from a Japanese sea Captain just after WW2.
It is a 60mm lens size with a 900mm focal length and fits two eyepieces.
This is a London, UK made telescope from the 19th Century.
It features (and this is very rare) a totally original telescope, mount head, tripod and two inset tubes with eyepiece fitted. It is a very rare example of London bespoke hand crafting of telescopes, and represents the best example of this I have seen outside of a museum, the closest I have seen is a (very) similar unit to this at Monash University which is the personal private telescope of the great man himself, sir John Monash – whose unit is worth a small fortune).
This telescope is very rare, so rare that I have only seen four units like this in my over forty years in both servicing and assisting the telescope & astronomy industry globally.
It suits a collector who wants something absolutely exceptional, or an antiques collector who wants a statement piece for their home. It is absolutely beautiful.
Unit supplied with original timber hard case custom made to exactly fit the telescope and mount together.
