Description

.
Quality 40mm standard eyepiece for those that want to resolve all the large star clusters, nebulae and the moon into their visual field of view in their telescope

Most long focal length telescopes such as Schmidt Cassegrains (2,000mm PLUS) & Maksutov Cassegrains (1,500mm PLUS) have extremely long focal lengths of between 1,500mm to 2,500mm – or even longer. In these the eyepieces suppled with the telescope simply do not fit any of the larger stellar objects into the field of view in the telescope, as the manufacturers do not supply what they should supply – a lower power premium quality eyepiece, which would enable you to actually fit in these larger steller objects – and there are plenty of these

Also the standard eyepieces supplied with these telescopes have excessive magnification to enable easy usage, partiularly for users newer to astronomy. They are hard to use as the magnification is so high that you struggle to keep the system still and struggle to be able to get used to operating the telescope. In this case a 40mm Plossl is absolutely IDEAL

This also applies to Dobsonian users, as the focal length in these of 1,200mm Plus is also high and a lower magnification would be a very welcome capability

This is where a Plossl 40mm is abolutely ideal, as it enables a lower magnification – and thereby you actually fit in all the objects the telescope is capable of achieving

Also when you are performing terrestrial land based observation – for birding, landscapes, ships of the water, city buildings, mountains, and such – you actually want the magnification that a Plossl 40mm enables, as it is the perfect magnification for the best results achieveable

So why do manufacturers not include a 40mm Plossl as standard, it’s simple – cost – a 40mm Plossl costs more to manufacture, thereby including it isn’t standard

Specifications:
